Office of the Dead at the court of King Philip II of Spain, a princely funeral service in the Golden Century.

Fellow traveler of Les Voix Animées during « Between Stones and sea » 4th edition, Tomas Luis Victoria wrote his " Officium defunctorum " for the funeral of Empress Maria of Austria, daughter of Charles V, widow Maximilian II and Philip II 's sister. This requiem composed on the threshold of his life is his masterpiece. Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina was the master of the Roman Germanic Victoria College , one and the other composed a considerable work in the service of the post tridentine Catholic church.
